About Mississippi Association of Forensic Nurses
OUR STORY
MSAFN started with three forensic nurses who are committed to seeing change in forensic patient care in Mississippi. This is a growing group that is dedicated to providing evidence based care to those who are victim of sexual assault, rape, or strangulation. MSAFN sets the standard of care for patients who have experienced sexual trauma. This standard of care includes updates to the sample collection kit, updating policy and procedures, and training as it pertains to the sample collection kit.

“When I asked the police if the person who abused, raped or killed these patients would be caught and punished, they told me it was unlikely because the doctors and nurses lost and destroyed the evidence,” she said. “It had never occurred to me that the healthcare professions were unintentionally obstructing justice.” - Virginia Lynch
